NWA reports roadblocks in several parishes

The National Works Agency (NWA) is reporting that heavy rains associated with Tropical Storm Isaac have affected several roadways in the parishes of St Catherine, Clarendon, St Mary, Portland and St Thomas, blocking or reducing them to single lane access.

The NWA is advising motorists who use these roadways to proceed with care as the roads are slippery, obey posted warning signs and the instructions of flag persons.

St. Catherine

Bog Walk Gorge - impassable. (Alternative routes through Barry or Sligoville; however, these roads have been blocked to small vehicles.)

Williamsfield to Glengoffe main road – single lane access in the vicinity of Mount Industry

Zion Hill Bridge to Free Town main road – single lane access in the vicinity of Bamboo Corner.

St. John’s Road in the vicinity of Johnson Pen and Old Friendship School - inundated.


Main Road in the vicinity of Blue Hole blocked by a large tree - single lane is expected late this afternoon.

Buff Bay Valley and Rio Grande Valley corridors - inundated

St. Mary

Junction Road at Friendship Gap – landslips

Lunarfield Parish Council Road – landslips

Paisley School Road at the border of St. Mary and St. Andrew – landslips

St Thomas

Windsor Forest to Mahogany – blocked

Groves main road in vicinity of Cedar Valley – blocked


Tollgate and Four Paths main roads – inundated
