Dalley upbeat on IMF deal
Minister with responsibility for the public service in the Ministry of Finance and Planning, Horace Dalley is expressing optimism that the government will ink a deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) by year-end.
Minister Dalley says many of the initiatives key to sealing the deal with the IMF are on target, noting that the report of the tax reform committee was complete and that the report of the pension reform committee was near completion.
He also provided clarity on the 3,000 public sector jobs which are to be cut as part of the rationalisation process. He says the posts span ministries, departments and agencies in which persons will not be employed in the future.
