The National Parent Teacher Association (NPTA) says it’s prepared to work with the National Council on Drug Abuse (NCDA) to help troubled male students who are using ganja.

The NCDA says the figures show that 80 percent of boys who have demonstrated behavioural problems in schools have reported using marijuana.

NPTA’s President, Everton Hannan described these figures as alarming.

He says although some parents are aware that their children are experimenting with ganja, his association was not aware of the extent of the problem, until now.

The NCDA Chairman, Dr Wendel Abel says treatment centres are inundated with adolescents with drug problem.
