Healing the nation call

The two main political leaders have called for renewed emphasis on the family to help to correct some of Jamaica’s social problems, this year.

The Prime Minister, Bruce Golding says he will be engaging the Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller in discussions on a new national family programme. According to Mr. Golding, poor parenting has significantly contributed to the current social breakdown, and he says there must now be a turnaround.

The Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller says the social breakdown can be addressed through a collaborative effort.

The Opposition Leader and the Prime Minister were speaking today at the National Arena during the National Day of Payer organised by the Power of Faith Ministries.

The event was held under the theme: Heal the Family, Heal the Nation.
