Jamaica beats Leeward in Carib Beer Series

Jamaica defeated the Leeward Islands by five wickets yesterday at Sabina Park to make a winning start in the regional four day Carib Beer Series.

Leewards resumed this morning on 87 for two were bowled out for 184 in their second innings with Odean Brown and Nikita Miller sharing nine wickets.

Brown, who took five for 72, earned match figures of 10 for 103. It was a career best for the leg spinner. He took his first five wicket haul in the first innings.

Miller picked up four for 43 to end with match figures of 7 for 85.

Wavell Hinds top scored with 64.

Leeward Islands scored 155 and 184 while Jamaica 224 and 115 for five.

Jamaica will host the next combined Universities in the second round, which bowls off on Friday at Kensington Park.
