Final day for submissions to committee reviewing national minimum wage

Today is the deadline for the public to make submissions to the Minimum Wage Advisory Commission tasked with reviewing the national minimum wage.



The minimum wage, which now stands at $5,000 was increased by $500 last September.



The minimum wage for security guards will also be reviewed.



Members of the public and interested organisations are invited to submit in writing any comments, suggestions or proposals for consideration by the Commission. 



Recommendations should be sent to Secretary, of the Minimum Wage Advisory Commission, Latoya McCatty, at the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, on North Street, Kingston.



Individuals or groups may be asked to appear before the Commission in support of their submissions.



In the meantime, a series of  islandwide consultations have been scheduled for September 10-26.
