Noise Abatement Act to be fully enforced this Christmas - police

Published:Saturday | December 14, 2013 | 7:18 PM

The police are warning that the provisions of the Noise Abatement Act will be fully enforced this Christmas season.

The warning comes as the police say they are aware of instances where event promoters who have been denied permits are still going ahead with these events.

In a statement today, the Constabulary Communications Network (CCN) made it clear that where breaches of the act are detected, event promoters will have their equipment confiscated and face criminal prosecution.

And the police are urging persons who have received permission to host events to adhere to the stipulated terms and conditions.

CCN says the police will take a zero-tolerance approach where events are held without approval; causes a nuisance to the public; impede vehicular and pedestrian traffic and where children are found in attendance.
