KINGSTON, Jamaica:

The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) will be partnering with their French counterparts, the Fédération Française d'Athlétisme (FFA), with a Memorandum of Understanding expected to be signed later this week.

Officials from the FFA are set to arrive on the island to sign the agreement, which will see both associations sharing technical knowledge in their respective areas of expertise, while the French officials are also expected to commit equipment to the Jamaicans, which will be used within the local school system.

JAAA president Dr Warren Blake confirmed the development to The Gleaner earlier today, stating: “We are looking at foreign federations to twin with them and to see how we may benefit. The French Federation is coming here in the week and we will be signing a memorandum of understanding with them.”

“This is something that we negotiated during the World Championships in Moscow,” Blake added.

The JAAA will also be looking to tie up bi-lateral agreements with the Cuban and Kenyan athletics bodies in the coming months.
