Tourism Ministry expects winter flights to return to normal

The Tourism Ministry is optimistic that there will soon be an upswing in visitor arrivals following several cancellations because of the extremely cold weather in the United States.

The Tourism Minister Dr Wykeham McNeill says while there has been a slight fallout from the cancellations, Jamaica should see an increase in bookings later in the season.

Already the Chief Commercial Officer at MBJ Airports Limited, Elizabeth Brown Scotton, says travel is almost back to normal at the Sangster International Airport following the weather-related flight delays and cancellations over the weekend.

And Senior Director, Commercial Development & Planning at Kingston’s Norman Manley International Airport, Alfred McDonald, says the significant delays and cancellation out of New York and Toronto earlier in the week have levelled off.
