Trinidad implements water rationing due to drought

Published:Thursday | May 8, 2014 | 9:12 AM

The authorities in Trinidad and Tobago have implemented water rationing as the country continues to battle a prolonged dry season.

The Water and Sewerage Authority says it is introducing a temporary water supply schedule for parts of the twin-island republic as normal rainfall conditions in April were below usual levels.

The Authority says a similar pattern is forecast for this month.

It said this situation calls for greater management of supplies to ensure the availability of water for the duration of the dry season.
