FOOTBALL: Jamaica to play Japan in friendly

Published:Thursday | August 7, 2014 | 1:33 PM

Jamaica will wrap-up their preparations for this year’s Caribbean Cup with a friendly international against Japan in October.

The match, confirmed by the Jamaica Football Federation yesterday, will be played at the Denka Big Swan Stadium in Niigata City, Japan.

Jamaica and Japan have played three times with a victory each and the other game ending in a draw.

In the 1998 FIFA World Cup finals Jamaica defeated Japan 2-1 and two years later the Asians hammered the Reggae Boyz 4-0 in Morroco.

The two teams played to a one all draw in Tokyo in 2002.

The Jamaicans are also slated to face Canada on September 9 in Toronto.
