There will be major traffic changes today in sections of Kingston to facilitate the state funeral for the late former Governor General Sir Howard Cooke.

Changes will involve road closures, limited access, and traffic diversions for the funeral and burial.

South Camp Road between Merrion Road in front of the Traffic Court and East Queen Street, and all roads leading on, will be closed to vehicular traffic from 7 o'clock in the morning to 3 o'clock in the afternoon.

Only persons attending the funeral will be allowed access.

North Street between South Camp Road and Duke Street will also be closed to vehicular traffic.

East Street between Charles Street and South Heroes Circle, and all roads leading off, will be closed to the general motoring public.

Pedestrians will have limited access to business facilities in the cordoned-off areas.

The police will be responsible for directing traffic along the routes and motorists are asked to adhere to the directions given by the lawmen.
