Policemen involved in Mountain View shooting hands swabbed

Published:Saturday | August 9, 2014 | 6:50 PM

The two policemen involved in the fatal shooting of a man in the Mountain View area of St Andrew this morning were scheduled to meet today with investigators from the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).

It is not known, if the policemen were interviewed but INDECOM says their hands have been swabbed and their firearms sent to the Government Forensic Laboratory for analysis.

It is reported that 27-year-old Frei Riley was shot and injured during a confrontation with the police along Langston Road, in east Kingston.

The police say Riley died while undergoing treatment and that two other men involved in the incident managed to escape.

However, angry residents disputed the police account of Riley’s death and mounted several road blocks along Mountain View Avenue.

INDECOM has urged residents to exercise patience and has encouraged persons with information on the incident to come forward.
