Holness tours Montego Bay jail, police lament media battering
The Opposition Leader Andrew Holness, and several senior Opposition members toured the Barnett Street Police Station in St James this morning, where 31-year-old Mario Deane was beaten.
While there, Holness met with Deputy Superintendent in charge of the Barnett Street Police Station, Kevin Francis.
Holness told Francis he wanted to see first-hand the facilities at the station.
The senior cop said he welcomed Holness’ visit, as it provided the opportunity for the police to give their perspective on what took place.
The policeman said his colleagues have been receiving a battering in the media.
Holness also held a private meeting with the family members of the deceased.
The Opposition Leader will stage a press conference at the Wexford Court Hotel on the matter this afternoon.
