Mario Deane's family makes plans to sue Barnett Street police, government

Published:Tuesday | August 12, 2014 | 8:40 AM

The family of Mario Deane, who died last week following a brutal beating at the Barnet Street Police Station days earlier, say they intend to sue over his controversial death in the coming weeks.

However it’s not just the government they’re eying.

Despite an ongoing INDECOM investigation and two persons being charged for the death, Deane’s family say they will not be distracted.

They maintain that the police had to have been involved in the brutal attack in some way.

Miguel Lorne, the attorney representing Deane’s family says he has already written to the Attorney General and the Justice Minister requesting a thorough investigation into the beating.

He is also requested the names of police personnel who were on duty at the time of the incident.

They’re to be named in the suit he intends to file on behalf of Deane’s family.
