CRICKET: Tallawahs turn attention to Guyana Amazon Warriors in race for CPL final spot

Published:Thursday | August 14, 2014 | 8:39 PM

Jamaica Tallawahs with Chris Gayle at the helm and Denesh Ramdin-led Guyana Amazon Warriors will contest a semi-final playoff today in St Kitts to decide the second finalist of the 2014 Caribbean Premier League.

The Tallawahs earned the right to contest the playoff following a dramatic four-wicket victory over Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel in another semi-final playoff yesterday.

A breathtaking onslaught from Andre Russell led Jamaica Tallawahs into today’s second playoff.

Russell hammered 62 not out from 27 deliveries, to steal victory from Red Steel after dislodging them from a winning position.

The Tallawahs were forced into the two-match playoff after finishing fourth in the regular season.

Kieron Pollard’s Barbados Tridents topped the table in the regular season to qualify for Sunday’s final, while Guyana Amazon Warriors finished second to earn a semi-final playoff spot.
