NSWMA on track to clear garbage pile-up

Published:Saturday | August 16, 2014 | 8:54 AM

Director of Operations at the National Solid Waste Management Authority, Percival Stewart says the NSWMA is on track to clear the backlog of uncollected garbage in the Corporate Area this weekend.

He says the authority has been utilising trucks from neighboring parishes and government-owned trucks to address the problem.

Earlier this week, Stewart told The Gleaner Power 106 news centre that given recent cuts to its budget, the authority had no choice but to reduce garbage collection days.

As a result of this, he is reminding members of the public to assist the NSWMA by safely securing their waste until it is collected.
