Three women who were last week held allegedly trying to smuggle cocaine worth $3.6 million on international flights are to appear in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

The police say the drugs, weighing six pounds, were intercepted by members of the Transnational Crimes and Narcotics Division at the Sangster International Airport in St James.

Forty-two-year-old Michelle Pearson was about to board an American Airlines flight to Miami while, Tricia Cunningham Fray and Erica Wilson, both 40 years old, were about to board flights to New York when they were searched and the cocaine reportedly found.

They have since been charged with possession of, dealing in, and attempting to export cocaine.
