JUTC working to increase efficiency, says managing director

Managing Director of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company Collin Campbell says the JUTC has been actively working to increase its efficiency.

Campbell says the JUTC developed an action plan following a scathing audit report by the Auditor General last year.

The report identified several weaknesses in the company.

According to Campbell, most of the actions outlined in the plan have been completed.

Campbell also says in the year that he has been Managing Director at the JUTC, some 90 drivers and other employees have been apprehended by the company for stealing.

He says steps have also been taken to crack down on members of the public who have been stealing from the company.

According to Campbell, three passengers have been arrested and are doing jail time for using concessionary cards fraudulently.
