Islamic State militants pose biggest threat to US
Top officials in the United States (US) have warned that the Iraq-based terror group Islamic State (IS) militants are the most dangerous threat America has faced in years.
Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel notes that while US strikes have weakened IS, the group is expected to regroup.
The US top military commander General Martin Dempsey is warning that IS fighters could not be defeated without attacking the group’s base.
The conflict has fuelled sectarian tensions in Iraq, sparking a deadly attack on a Sunni mosque yesterday.
Officials say during Friday prayers, a suicide bomber detonated explosives inside the mosque located in an eastern province and that gunmen fired on fleeing worshippers.
