The Education Ministry is reporting that it is 95 per cent ready for the start of the 2014-2015 academic year, which begins on Monday, September 1.

The Chief Education Officer, Dr Grace McLean, told the JIS that the ministry has been proactive in its approach.

According to McLean, work is underway to get the remaining five per cent of schools ready for reopening on Monday.

McLean says the Education Ministry will soon complete the delivery of the last sets of textbooks and furniture to schools.

She says already, the ministry has distributed maintenance grants and subventions to meet the costs associated with repairs and other preparatory works.

McLean says all students have already been placed, and during this week, schools should complete their registration ahead of next week’s start of classes.
