Pay attention to motor vehicle warranties, says Trade Board

Published:Friday | August 29, 2014 | 9:24 AM

Trade Board Limited and the Consumer Affairs Commission are reminding members of the public to pay attention to warranties when importing motor vehicles.

The Trade Board says all certified motor vehicle dealers must ensure that the warranty provided on new motor vehicles imported and sold by them, are passed on to the consumer.

And dealers are required to explicitly state the terms of the warranty for new vehicles purchased from them, on pro-forma documentation as well as on the contract for sale.

Under the motor vehicle policy, all certified used motor vehicle dealers and brokers must provide warranties in accordance with guidelines, determined by the vehicle’s age and odometer reading.
