Three people remain in hospital in stable condition after they were attacked by gunmen along King Street in the capital city yesterday.

The police's Corporate Communications Unit reports that about 4:20 p.m., two armed men on a Jamco motor bike opened fire on three males and a female as they stood along King Street. The gunmen sped along the roadway, but were intercepted by the police.

The gunmen reportedly engaged the lawmen in a gun battle before escaping. They, however, left behind a Taurus 9-millimetre pistol and five 9-millimetre rounds of ammunition.

The four injured persons were taken to hospital where the female was treated and released and the others admitted in a stable condition.
