ATHLETICS: 11 Jamaicans invited to compete at IAAF Continental Cup

Glasgow Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Jason Morgan is among 11 Jamaican athletes invited to represent the Americas at the IAAF Continental Cup in Marrakech, Morocco, from September 13-14.



Morgan, the first ever discus thrower selected from Jamaica to compete at the Continental Cup, joins Commonwealth Games champions Kaliese Spencer, Stephenie McPherson and O’Dayne Richards.



Also invited are Veronica Campbell-Brown, Novlene Williams-Mills, Kimberly Williams, Nesta Carter and Christine Day.



The Jamaican athletes, who are expected to be in Marrakech by September 7, will form part of a formidable team from the Americas that should include World triple jump champion Caterine Ibarguen, World Indoor champion Francena McCorory, sprint hurdler Dawn Harper-Nelson, 400-metre hurdler Javier Culson and US shot putter Joe Kovacs.



Two of the Jamaican invitees will not be accepting invitations.



They are Hansle Parchment, who is still recovering from injury and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.
