Former police constable Dave Mitchell has been charged with a range of sexually related offences.

The 48-year-old Clarendon man was charged yesterday with one count of kidnapping, two counts of carnal abuse and three counts of rape.

Mitchell is scheduled to appear in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

He was charged by investigators at the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency following a ruling by the Director of Public Prosecutions.

It is reported that the offences were carried out between 2004 and 2006 in St Catherine and Clarendon.

An investigation was launched in 2009.

MOCA says shortly after the probe began Mitchell resigned from the Jamaica Constabulary Force and left the island.

However, it says the investigators continued the probe and a file was prepared and submitted to the Office of the DPP.
