FOOTBALL: Arnett Gardens strengthen team for new Premiership season

Arnett Gardens Football Club has added some experienced as well as youth players to its squad for the new season of the National Premier League.

The club will be trying to break a 12-year title drought after last winning the Premier League in 2002.

Former Harbour View and national defender Dicoy Williams makes a return to Arnett.

Jerry Walters and Anthowe Dawkins have also returned, while Jameel Thompson, formerly of Tivoli Gardens and Waterhouse, and Marvin Morgan, who quit Waterhouse after one season, have joined the club.

Williams along with Dawkins, Walters and Thompson will add stability to a backline that was inconsistent last season.

Arnett have also included youth players Steve Clarke, Paul Doyle, and Dasha Fatchwell into the senior team.

With the addition of the players, head coach Jerome Waite believes that his team has enough ammunition to improve on the fourth-place finish last season.

Arnett will begin the season against Cavalier at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex on Sunday.

The other games on the opening day are defending champions Montego Bay United hosting Rivoli United; Humble Lion entertaining Barbican; Harbour View playing Sporting Central Academy; Tivoli Gardens facing Boys’ Town; and Reno hosting Waterhouse.
