Mother and daughter die in Hellshire crash

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica:

An accident along the Hellshire Main Road in St Catherine this morning has left a woman and her child dead.




Dead are 39-year-old labourer, Jaharian Durrant and her five-year-old daughter who were both passengers in a taxi.



Reports are that about 6 a.m. the driver of the 1999 Toyota Camry motor car was heading towards Braeton.



It's understood that the driver lost control of the vehicle when he attempted to overtake a line of traffic.



The vehicle crashed into a light pole, killing Durrant and her daughter on the spot.



The other occupants of the vehicle were rushed to hospital for treatment.
