ATHLETICS: Three Jamaican quarter-milers named to Americas women's 4x400 relay team

Three Jamaican quarter-milers have been included on the Americas women’s 4x400-metre relay team for the IAAF Continental Cup in Marrakech, Morocco.



The two-day event begins on September 13.



The Jamaicans named to the women’s 4 by 400-metre relay team are Glasgow Commonwealth Games champion Stephenie-Ann McPherson, 2014 Diamond League winner Novlene Williams-Mills and Christine Day.



The fourth member of the team is American Francena McCorory.



Williams-Mills will also represent the Americas team in the women’s 400-metre along with McCorory.



The Americas team will have 11 Jamaicans.



Veronica Campbell-Brown has been invited to compete in the women’s 100 and 4 by 100-metre relay races; while Diamond League winner Kaliese Spencer will run in the women’s 400-metre hurdles.



The other Jamaicans invited to the team are Rasheed Dwyer, O’Dayne Richards, Jason Morgan, Nesta Carter, Kimberly Williams and Samantha Henry-Robinson.



The Continental Cup comprises four teams competing in 40 track and field events for men and women.



The four teams will be Africa, the Americas, Asia-Pacific and Europe.
