IMF extends loan agreement with Haiti
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) says it has approved an extension to December of the Extended Credit Facility it has with Haiti.
The IMF says the Haitian authorities had requested the extension to provide them with additional time to implement fiscal and structural programmes.
Those programmes are needed for the completion of the eighth and final review under the arrangement and the related disbursement.
The IMF approved the three-year arrangement in July 2010.
In August 2013, the arrangement was extended by one year and the IMF also approved the full cancellation of Haiti’s outstanding liabilities to the Fund, totalling US$268 million.
