Women's rights advocate accuses church of ignoring domestic violence
Women’s rights advocate Joyce Hewitt is urging the local Christian community to take a strong stance against domestic violence.
The past president of Women Incorporated charges that the Church is seeking to sweep the domestic-violence issue under the carpet, instead of trying to root it out.
According to Hewitt, the church should put domestic violence on its agenda of issues to march against.
President of the Association of Women’s Organisations in Jamaica, Hermione McKenzie, believes efforts must be concentrated on changing the behaviours of perpetrators.
