Lightning reportedly strikes, kills fisherman

A fisherman from Rocky Point who ventured out to sea early yesterday has died after being struck by lightning.



He is 53-year-old Louwerton Vidal of Rocky Settlement, Clarendon.



It is reported that about 5:30 a.m. yesterday, Vidal and another fisherman went out to fish. However, there was rain and lightning and Vidal, who was holding onto the rear of the boat close to the engine, was struck by lightning.



He reportedly suffered severe burns to his upper body and his left arm was severed.
