Sections of corporate area and Portmore to experience water disruptions

Published:Tuesday | September 9, 2014 | 9:01 PM

The National Water Commission (NWC) says western sections of the corporate area and Portmore will have no water or low water pressure, because of major damage to two of its main transmission lines.

The commission says the damage occurred on the Constant Spring Water Supply and the Rio Cobre/Tulloch Springs Water Supply systems within the last 24 hours.

The NWC says customers will be inconvenienced until the repairs are completed.

However, it has not given a timeline for the repair work.

The commission says it is seeking to supply as many of the areas as is possible from alternative sources.

The areas being affected include Eltham, Portmore, Spanish Town Road, Marcus Garvey Drive, Washington Boulevard and Constant Spring Road.

Havendale, Mannings Hill Road, Half-Way Tree, Sections of New Kingston, Maxfield Avenue and surrounding communities are also being affected.
