Eleven Jamaicans will be among the athletes who will be vying for cash prizes of nearly US$3 million, when the two-day IAAF Continental Cup gets underway this Saturday in Marrakesh, Morrocco.

The event, at which athletes will compete for the continents, will see the top athlete in individual events getting a top prize of US$30,000.

There will be a bonus of US$50,000 for a world record performance, once it has been ratified.

The 11 Jamaicans are part of the Americas team.

Among the Jamaican athletes is Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Jason Morgan.

The 31-year-old Morgan is the first Jamaican male discus thrower to compete at the IAAF Continental Cup.

Commonwealth Games 400-metre gold medallist Jamaica's Kaliese Spencer is also on the Americas team.
