Police seize more than 110 cartons of uncustomed cigarettes

The police are reporting that operation resilience II continues to reap success the latest of which is the seizure of a large quantity of uncustomed cigarettes.



The seizure was made the Organized Crime Investigation Division and the Mobile Reserve in Riverton Meadows, Kingston 11, yesterday.



The police say about 12:45 p.m. yesterday, lawmen were on operation in the area when a building was searched and more than 110 cartons of uncustomed cigarettes were seized.



They say the estimated street value of the cigarettes is $638,000.



One woman was reportedly arrested and charged for breaches of the Customs Act and is booked to appear in the Half-Way Tree Corporate Area Criminal Court on October 6.



The police say her name is being withheld pending further information.
