ST CATHERINE, Jamaica:

The Spanish Town police have launched an investigation into an overnight jailbreak at its lock-up.

Reports are that four prisoners escaped.

One has been recaptured.

At least one of the escapees is a murder accused in a high-profile case.

A team from the St Catherine North Scenes of Crime and the police hierarchy is now on the scene conducting a probe in the matter.

The names of the escapees have not yet been released by the police.

In April last year four prisoners escaped from the lock-up.
