Bahamas government warns protesting workers

Published:Friday | September 12, 2014 | 8:41 AM

The government of Bahamas says while it supports the rights of workers to engage in strike action, it will not condone any action that contravenes the Industrial Act.

The Trade Union Congress staged a national strike on Wednesday saying that the unions have been battling issues with the authorities for a number of months.

Health and Customs workers walked off the job in the first leg of the national strike with other unions planning to follow suit.

The government has since filed an injunction to end the action by the workers.
