Water lock-offs irk Coral Gardens, St James residents

Published:Friday | September 12, 2014 | 9:52 AM

After a mere three-day return of water to the community of Coral Gardens in St James, residents are once again facing a water lock-off, which has been on-going since Monday evening.

Prior to this latest disruption, the community was without water for six consecutive days, with water returning last Saturday, only to be gone again, on Monday.

According to residents, there is never any warning from the NWC.

They say no water is trucked to the community during lock offs.

They say they’ve made repeated calls to the NWC for assistance but so far, their requests have fallen on deaf ears.

This has prompted, Member of Parliament for the area, Dr Horace Chang to join the residents in their cry for help.

Chang says the NWC must act more decisively to fix pumps in these areas.

He is also urging the NWC to invest in backup water pumps, especially in large communities to minimise the inconvenience to residents.
