KSAC to roll out comprehensive plan against illegal vending
The Kingston and St Andrew Corporation (KSAC) is to roll out an intensified programme to crack down on illegal vending in the Corporate Area.
Mayor of Kingston, Senator Angela Brown Burke, says she’s disturbed that the situation seems to have worsened in recent weeks.
Senator Brown-Burke further says the KSAC took the decision to get even tougher on illegal vending after an eight-year-old boy was injured by a metal hook which was displaying clothes on a sidewalk.
She says illegal vending not only denied the KSAC of revenue but also poses a safety hazard for pedestrians and motorists.
The Kingston Mayor says the KSAC is working with the police to implement a comprehensive anti-illegal vending plan for the Corporate Area.
She says the plan will also target illegal structures, unlawful dumping and persons who use residential sites for commercial purposes.
The Kingston Mayor says a meeting with be called with stakeholders before the plan is fully rolled out.
