JUTC to deploy more buses on #97 route

Published:Sunday | September 14, 2014 | 10:20 AM

The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) is to reduce the wait time for commuters on its #97 bus route, which serves communities as far as 11 Miles in Bull Bay, St Thomas.

The changes are set to take effect tomorrow. The main bus stop in 9 Miles also serve 10 other communities as far away as 11 Miles and residents say this forces school children and other commuters to wait up to 30 minutes for a bus.

However, as part of the changes, the JUTC says it will now have six buses travelling between East Parade and 9 Miles in Bull Bay during the peak hours of 5 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., Mondays to Fridays.

And the company says it has made arrangements to have its mobile unit visit the area to make Smarter Cards available to residents.
