Judges to start using new chambers in downtown Kingston building

Published:Tuesday | September 16, 2014 | 9:45 AM

Some judges will move to new chambers at the Justice Square building in downtown Kingston when the Michaelmas Session of the Home Circuit Court opens today.

It’s reported that so far only one floor of the four storey building will be occupied as the other sections are not ready.

Civil matters will be held in the new building and will cease taking place at the Jamaica Conference Centre.

The sittings at the conference centre have been costing the Government millions of dollars in rental.

Judges have complained about the long delay in completing the new courthouse.
