Angry students protest outside Kingston school, demand refund of fees
Chad Bryan, Gleaner Writer
The administration of South East College in Kingston says it is working to repay students who have been displaced by the decision to cease operations.
Today, disgruntled students turned up at the institution demanding the return of their fees.
Protestors told our news centre that they paid more than $10,000 in tuition fees and other costs.
Other protestors said they paid twice that amount.
The administration has since indicated that the school has been reimbursing students and it says it is working to clear the balances in the shortest possible time.
South East College says it had to halt its CXC and CAPE programmes because of cash flow issues related to outstanding balances from students.
It says in addition to reimbursing students the school is also assisting them to find places in other schools so that they can continue their studies.
