Complaining court secretaries to be temporarily relocated

Published:Thursday | September 18, 2014 | 9:47 AM

Secretaries at the Supreme Court who went on sick out on Tuesday to protest against working conditions will as of today be temporarily housed in the new Justice Square building in downtown, Kingston.

The workers met yesterday with court officials who informed them of the new arrangements.

The workers were told that they will remain in the new building until new air conditioning units are installed in their offices.

The court workers have been complaining for several months about the unbearable heat in the offices.

The workers received portable air conditioning units to cool the area last year.

However, they say the space is too big to be cooled in this manner.

They say several of them have become ill as a result of the unbearable conditions.
