Corporate area garbage backlog being addressed

Published:Friday | September 19, 2014 | 9:39 PM

Mayor of Kingston, Senator Angela Brown Burke is assuring that the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) is working to clear the backlog of garbage in the corporate area.

Brown Burke says members of the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation met with officials from the authority earlier this week following several complaints about garbage piling up in several communities.

She says new trucks have been brought into the corporate area to help clear the backlog.

Senator Brown Burke also says a new collection schedule has been developed and circulated.

She is encouraging members of the public to view the schedule, which is available online, so they'll be better informed on when their garbage is to be collected.

She was speaking on the Power 106 produced programme Independent Talk.
