ATHLETICS: Wallace Spearmon gets 3-month doping ban

American sprinter Wallace Spearmon has accepted a three-month ban from the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), after testing positive for a banned substance.
The 29-year-old 200-metre specialist returned a positive test for methylprednisolone after a meeting in Edmonton in July.
USADA accepted his explanation that he was taking the medicine in "a therapeutic dose".
But it said he failed to apply for a therapeutic use exemption beforehand.
His three-month ban was backdated to start on August 27.
