Man drowns at Salt River beach

A man is suspected to have drowned earlier today at the Salt River beach in Clarendon.

He has been identified as 44-year-old Davis Robinson of Savanna district, Hayes, Clarendon.

According to the Lionel Town police, Robinson and two other men went fishing about 11:00 a.m. when he dived into the water to retrieve a tool, which had fallen into the water. While swimming, he reportedly got into difficulties and drowned.

The police were alerted and Robinson was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigations continue.
