The West Indies Women’s cricket team will try to keep the three-match Twenty20 series against New Zealand Women in St Vincent alive when the sides face off in the second match.

West Indies, the big favourites to win the series, suffered a shock defeat in the first match on Tuesday to give New Zealand a 1-0 lead.

West Indies lost the match by seven wickets.

Sent in to bat, West Indies Women struggled to 92 for six off their allotted 20 overs with Jamaican Stafanie Taylor top scoring with 43.

And needing 93 to win, New Zealand Women replied with 95 for three to win with 13 balls to spare.

It was the first defeat for West Indies in the current series.

The Caribbean side completed a 4-0 sweep in the One-Day International series last week.
