The three cops charged in connection with the death of Mario Deane have each been granted bail in the amount of $400,000.

Corporal Elaine Stewart, District Constable Marlon Grant and Woman District Constable Juliana Clevon were granted bail when they appeared before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court today.

All three are charged with manslaughter, attempting to pervert the course of justice and misconduct in a public office.

They've been ordered to return to court on October 3.

Mario Deane died in hospital on August 6 from injuries he received from an alleged beating at the Barnett Street Police Station in Montego Bay, St James.

The police have maintained that Deane was beaten by cellmates but that has been disputed by his family.

Two inmates are also before the courts in relation to Deane’s death.
