Three-week repair work planned for approach roads to Grants Pen Ford

Published:Friday | September 26, 2014 | 3:22 PM

The National Works Agency (NWA) says a section of the Grants Pen Road in St Andrew is to be closed for three weeks beginning on Monday.

The closure will facilitate repairs to the approach roads to the Grants Pen Ford.

The NWA says over the past months sections of the roadway have been damaged.

The agency says the rehabilitative works will include expansion of the fibre concrete section of the roadway, the excavation of the rutted sections of the corridor and the construction of expansion joints.

It notes that the use of fibre concrete in repairing the affected section of the corridor should reduce the level of maintenance required for the roadway.

The NWA says the road works on Grants Pen Road are expected to be completed by Friday, October 17.

It says during the period of the closure motorists should to use Shortwood Road as an alternative route to the Grants Pen Ford.
