FOOTBALL: Charlie Smith look set to confirm Manning Cup second round spot

Published:Tuesday | September 30, 2014 | 9:41 AM

Charlie Smith High will attempt to qualify for the second round of the urban-area ISSA/LIME Manning Cup when return action in the competition resumes today with eight matches.

The Jerome Waite-coached team, which is holding a four-point lead in the Group B, will visit fourth place Cumberland.

A victory for Charlie Smith would set up qualification to round two.

Charlie Smith are heavily favoured to beat Cumberland following an 11-0 thrashing when the school met earlier this month.

In an interesting match in the group, second place Excelsior and third place Vauxhall will face off at Mountain View Avenue.

The day will also see a Group C top-of-the-table fixture between hosts St Mary’s College and unbeaten Denham Town.

Denham Town are leading the group with 15 points, three ahead of St Mary’s College and Innswood.

The St Catherine-based Innswood will play away to Tivoli at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex.

All matches are scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
