Broadcasting Commission to hold discussions on alleged breach by CVM

Published:Tuesday | September 30, 2014 | 9:22 AM

The Broadcasting Commission of Jamaica (BCJ) is expected today to hold discussions on CVM Television’s alleged breach of standards in the airing of a segment of the station’s entertainment programme, ‘Onstage’.

The alleged breach relates to CVM’s broadcast of content surrounding an issue between dancehall entertainers Ishawna and Foota Hype.

Last week, the regulator said it was pushing for media houses which breach content standards to pay a fine of up to $250,000.

Generally, offending media entities issue apologies for airing content that breach broadcasting standards.

However, the Broadcasting Commission of Jamaica (BCJ) has faced public criticism that it's falling short in monitoring and enforcing rules.
